Participation of the Region of Crete in the opening meeting of the StepAp project
The opening meeting of the StepAp project (SusTainablE siting of offshore wind Parks. Application in Crete) was held at the offices of the Region of Crete in Heraklion.
The object of the StepAp project is the investigation of all parameters for the sustainable siting of offshore wind farms in Crete, based on a multitude of environmental, technical and other criteria, as well as consultation with the involved bodies and citizens. The project is financed by the Green Fund, has a budget of approximately 200,000 euros and a duration of 2 years. The project is implemented by the Technical University of Crete and the Region of Crete. The scientific manager of the project is Professor Theoharis Tsoutsos, Director of the Laboratory of Renewable and Sustainable Energy Systems.
The opening meeting was attended by the General Director of Sustainable Development Marinos Kritsotakis, the Director of Environment and Spatial Planning Anna Kagiabakis, and the executives Eleni Kargaki, Nikos Kalogiannakis, Maria Apostolaki and Chrysanthi Vogiatzi on behalf of the Region of Crete. On behalf of the Technical University of Crete, in addition to Professor Theoharis Tsoutsos, Stavroula Tournakis and Georgia Skiniti participated, while the representative of the Green Fund, Zoi Gaitanarou, participated via video conference.
